Malted Chocolate Skillet Cookie

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup chocolate malt powder like Ovaltine
  • 1 Tablespoon sugar
  • ½ cup natural almond butter no sugar added
  • 1 Tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chunks


  • Heat your oven to 350ºF. Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour and baking soda. Add the eggs, malt powder, sugar, almond butter, coconut oil, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix well, until all of the ingredients are incorporated into a thick dough. Stir in the chocolate chunks.
  • Press the dough into the prepared skillet. Bake 16-20 minutes, or until the edges begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  • Let cool at least 15 minutes. Cut into wedges, or eat directly from the pan.
